Ensure You’re Appearing in Voice Searches

on June 28, 2019

By 2020, comScore predicts that 50% of all searches on the web are going to be voice-driven. Voice-only search allows users to browse the web without actually having to scroll through sites on desktops and mobile devices. Programs such as Google Assistant, Siri, Microsoft Cortana and Amazon Alexa all use voice search capabilities. Almost 70% of voice searches are made through natural languages, not the keywords we use in web searches and websites can be optimized for voice searches.

Search engines are starting to place a higher emphasis on voice search optimization. Customers should be confident that L2T’s SEO product features optimize a dealer’s website for voice search:

Create Q&A Style Content.  When preparing content for voice search, we optimize for long-tail keywords and questions so that your business shows up as the featured answer in Google Search.  A featured snippet – also called position zero, answer box or quick answers – is essentially a summary answer from a web page. In desktop search listings, these snippets appear just after the paid ads but before the regular search listings. We optimize for question-based search queries and conversational keywords which provide additional search visibility through the possibility of showing up in “People also ask” results.

Local SEO.  22% of voice search queries are looking for location-based content, which is one of the highlights of our SEO content.

Write the way you speak.  L2T ensures our long-tail keywords sound more natural as opposed to shorter, search queries that perform well in desktop SEO.

  • We write phrases that are short and simple, so that it is easy for voice search to recognize its intent.
  • We also add “near-me terms” to content and links to show up in voice searches like “Toyota dealer near me.”

Ensure the dealers’ websites load quickly.  While L2TMedia does not manage websites, we check the health of our clients’ websites to ensure that they are following best practices.

  • We monitor mobile load times and alert the web providers of any mobile site issues.
  • We ensure our clients are seeing consistent increases in organic mobile traffic.

Add Schema markup to our sites.  Schema is a simple way to alert search engines about the most important aspects of your website or content on your website. Schema is special HTML code that is used to describe your website so Google and other search engines can better understand it.

Accuracy and completeness of Google My Business.  It’s so simple, but most important for a successful voice search strategy. When a car shopper asks “is Dealership of Anywhere open on Sunday?” the voice assistant returns an accurate answer. The more complete the GMB listing is – with photos, positive reviews and owner responses – the more likely the dealership is to show in the local three-pack on the search engine results.

In terms of paid search, with phrase and broad match keywords, Google is getting better at understanding what the search is for, whether it be typed or spoken.
