What is the difference between sessions in Analytics and Dynamic Display clicks?
There is an important distinction between clicks and sessions when it comes to dynamic display ads. Typically these numbers will differ in reports, which can lead to some confusion.
Google Analytics counts one session as a visit to a website within a 30 minute period. This means that if an individual visits your website, then reloads the page again within 30 minutes, their visit will still count as one session. For the most part, this is done so as to prevent counting multiple sessions from spam. This way of measuring sessions can conflict with the style of dynamic display ads our specialists run.
Our specialists use a carousel style platform in which we show multiple vehicles of interest to a user. This style of ad allows the user to open the vehicles in different tabs, thus reloading your website more than once in a short amount of time. In this scenario, we end up with more clicks than sessions, even though a user may click through to multiple vehicles if they land on your website organically or through a different advertisement.
