While we are typically focused on efforts that bring growth to our national dealership clients, this night we aspired to show others how much we do to bring growth to the happiness of those less fortunate while partnering with Connections for the Homeless. August 14, 2017 was a milestone for L2TMedia, our automotive digital marketing strategy company near Chicago.
In our company of approximately 100 employees, only a few of us were quick enough to volunteer and be chosen to give back to Hilda’s Place Transitional Shelter in Evanston despite an overwhelming response of volunteers. The week prior to our volunteer night, we met in a conference room and debated what dinner would be great to serve. We ultimately decided on spaghetti.
What was originally planned to be just spaghetti and garlic bread morphed into pasta with butter and cheese, meatless spaghetti, spaghetti with beef, garlic bread, watermelon, and popsicles for dessert. The overall meal was able to feed around 30 people including volunteers. Once the needed groceries were picked up, we began to lay everything out and get to work.
After everything was cooked and seven o’clock hit, the shelter members came to get their food and went to the dining room. Our team soon followed and sat down to chat. We were told tales of hardship as well as hope. One gentleman felt so blessed because he had recently been provided a bike and was excited that we all sat down to speak with everyone.
Overall, our first venture into helping our community was a success and everyone said they’d love to volunteer again in the future. A special thank you goes out to everyone who volunteered, but especially to those who were lucky enough to be chosen: Carrie Freehling, Jessica Stell, Danielle Braman, Dave Myers, Rachel Nihiser, Darby Ellis, Rob Faymckinstry, Lynn Cowan, Nicole Wright, Liz Weeks, and Liz Prior!
All of us at L2TMedia had a great time and enjoyed providing a little joy to the lives of others. We can’t wait for the next opportunity to volunteer again.
